HMS Brinmaric Collectibles
An invitation to Gauleiter Josef Burckel to attend a speech given by Adolf Hitler on 8 November 1938.
This fantastic piece is done on stationary from Himmler's personal office at
Prinz-Albrecht Str. 9,
headquarters of the SS and GESTAPO.
The letter is dated 31 October 1938 and is inviting Burckel to attend a speech given by Hitler at the Headquarters of the SS-Standarte "Deutschland" in Munich on 8 November 1938 at 3:00pm.
The letter is signed by SS Gruppenfuhrer Walter Schmitt, Chief of Staff of
Himmler's personal office.
The letter is 8 1/4 x 11 11/16 inches and has an embossed eagle on the
letter head. It is in excellent condition. It is hand signed by Schmitt.
Gauleiter Burckel was Gauleiter for Vienna, Austria and was a
Gruppenfuhrer in the SS. He held the title of "Reichskommisar for the
reunification of Austria and Greater Germany". Burckel
was reported to have committed suicide on 28 September 1944.
SS Gruppenfuhrer Walter Schmitt was a WWI veteran
and POW. He joined the NSDAP in August of 1931 and the SS in February of 1932.
He was a recipient of the Gold Party Badge and a member of the Reichstag. In
1942 he was promoted to SS-Obergruppenfuhrer and General der Waffen-SS.
He died in Czechoslovakia in 1945.
Items from Himmler's office are rare and this piece to Gauleiter Bruckel is very special because of the Hitler connection.
There is also a notarized letter from Ray and Josephine Cowdery of Rapid City SD stating the letter and the signature are 100% original.
